When we say rabbits offer a lifetime of love, this is the kind of story we mean.

Rorschach and Wolfgang were lifelong patients of our clinic, spending 10 beautiful years side by side. True bonded best friends, they grew old together, sharing not only a deep connection with each other but also the love of two incredibly dedicated parents who went above and beyond for them every step of the way.

From 6-monthly health checks and vaccinations to more complex moments like gut stasis and surgical procedures, these boys faced all of life’s ups and downs together. As they entered their senior years (the equivalent of around 80+ in human years), they developed a number of age-related health conditions.

After a lifetime together, Rorschach and Wolfgang were guided over the rainbow bridge side by side, in the comfort of their home, surrounded by love during a home euthanasia appointment. Some bonds are too strong to be broken, even by death. All of us here at The Rabbit and Bird Doctors wish them safe travels together into their next journey.
To their parents, thank you for trusting us with their care and for sharing their story. The love, compassion, and dedication you showed Rorschach and Wolfgang throughout their lives is truly something special. They were so lucky to have you.

Making the decision to say goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. Choosing a peaceful passing, surrounded by love, is one of the greatest kindnesses we can offer. While it can feel incredibly difficult, allowing them to go on a “good day,” rather than waiting for a moment of crisis or suffering, is a deeply compassionate and valid choice.
There is no “perfect” time, and no matter when that decision is made, it comes from a place of love. You have not done the wrong thing.
